Frequently Asked Questions
-
During your initial session we can work together in assessing where you are currently at in life and what you would like to get from counselling. I will also ask for information relating to your previous counselling experiences and your medical history so that I can get a view of what you require during our time together. This is also so that you can get a feel of what you want from your counselling experience with me.
This is covered by our confidentiality agreement and there is absolutely no pressure to continue. This is for your benefit to get a feel for how I work and what you might require from counselling.
If you are comfortable in continuing our work together, then we can look at booking our next session. -
I provide counselling in-person, and online counselling via Microsoft Teams can also be provided. Video or live-chat only sessions can be provided.
Online counselling is also useful for those who do not live near Whittlesey but would still like to access counselling.
Some things for your consideration when having online counselling;
>I will be in a private space when I am on my computer to ensure your confidentiality is protected.>I will do my upmost best to ensure my Internet connection is working smoothly, but as we all know the Internet can be unreliable sometimes! If our connection ceases to work and we are unable to continue the session online, you may consider either continuing over telephone or rescheduling.
>You need to consider the following when you attend a Teams session:
Can anyone around you hear what you are say; would your confidentiality be ensured?
How is your internet connection?
Would you feel comfortable talking over the Internet in your own home?
Are there any disturbances such as loud noises at your location that could disrupt your session? -
I charge £35 per session, whether in-person or online.
I accept either cash or bank transfer.
I ask that sessions are paid for on a session-by-session basis.
I require all payments to be made within 24 hours of a booking. If you miss or cancel a session under 24 hours then a session fee of £15 will apply.
I currently offer a reduced fee of £30 for counselling trainees. -
I understand that sometimes life can get in the way of appointments so if you need to change a booking then please feel free to contact me and we can rearrange as needed.
If I have to reschedule a session on my end then I will give you as much notice as possible. You will not be charged for your session unless payment has already been made, then your fee can either be refunded or carried over to the next session.
Please note that I require a minimum of 24 hours notice when cancelling or changing a session. Cancellations or changes within this period of time will still incur the fee of your session. -
The same time & day for sessions cannot always be guaranteed, however I endeavour to offer flexibility when arranging sessions with you.
Date and time can be arranged depending on both of our schedules.
Evening sessions can be arranged if required.
